【Technical introduction】Ti3Al-based alloys and TiAl-based alloys are advanced high-performance materials developed and applied in important fields such as aerospace vehicles and gas turbine engines. High temperature properties similar to Ni-based superalloys (the oxidation limit temperature of Ti alloy is 600 °C and Ti3Al is 650 °C, and the creep limit temperature is 600 °C for the former and 750 °C for the latter). The long-term working temperature of the α2-Ti3Al-based alloy can be 650-700 °C (up to 1000 °C instantaneously), which is about 100 °C higher than the current working stability of the near-α type high-temperature titanium alloy. The long-term working temperature of Ti2AlNb (O phase)-based alloys can reach 700 to 800 °C (in a short time, it can be higher than 1100 °C). These excellent properties of Ti3Al-based alloys have made G.E companies in the United States use them to make some parts of high-pressure turbines of aero-engines, compressor rotors, impellers and wheels. This not only meets the temperature target requirements, but also achieves a significant weight loss effect.
[Main technical indicators] Using the technology of this project, the 3D additive manufacturing-assisted forming of as many as 10 Ti3Al-based alloy castings has been completed and accepted for trial use. The typical wheel size is Φ800mm, the thickness of the outer rim is 60mm, and the thickness of the middle plate is about 5mm. The thickness of the R round transition area is only 2mm, and there is a transition area between single-wall and double-wall cavities. The acceptance index of the plate is that the X-ray total transmission photography is uniform and no display. The tensile strength of fusion welding sample is σb≥620MPa, δ>5%, and there is no wireless display and continuous point display for penetration coloration detection.

[Expected Benefit] Ti-Al series metal compounds are increasingly widely used in aviation, aerospace engine and various gas turbine manufacturing industries as light-duty high-temperature structural materials. Ti3Al-based alloys are an important class of Ti-Al intermetallic compounds, and are lightweight structural materials used for a long time in the temperature range of 650°C to 700°C. Among them, the titanium alloy research group of the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has already produced the compressor turbine disks in the aircraft engines in batches. In the future, with the improvement of the process, the production volume will increase. With the improvement of the production qualification rate, some parts with casting defects will be repaired, and the market demand for this project is still very considerable.
